Machine Chest Press – Alternating Arms Out

Overview

A machine chest press is a strength training exercise that targets the muscles of the chest (pectoral muscles), shoulders, and triceps. It is performed using a chest press machine, which provides guided and controlled movements. The machine chest press is a popular exercise in fitness facilities, as it allows individuals to work on their upper body strength safely and with relative ease, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced lifters.

Description

Let's get started by setting up the machine by choosing the appropriate weight. Then either sit on the seat, or if the machine is usable from a wheelchair, set yourself in the correct position. Grab the handles with both hands in an overhand grip and press them out in front of you.

This is the starting position.

From here, lower one of your hands to your chest then press it back out to the starting position. Now repeat on the other arm. Once both arms are complete you have done one repetition, now repeat for the desired amount.

If you have limited gripping ability try using the Active Hands Gripping Aids to make this exercise as safe as possible.

Remember not all machines are the same and may require different usage. If unsure, look at the instructions on the machine or talk to a staff member at the gym.

Benefits

  • Targeted Chest Development: The machine chest press effectively targets and strengthens the chest muscles, promoting upper body strength and muscle definition.
  • Safe and Guided Movement: The machine's design ensures a controlled range of motion, reducing the risk of injury and making it suitable for individuals of different fitness levels.
  • Isolation of Muscles: This exercise isolates the chest muscles, allowing for more focused and effective training without relying on stabilizer muscles.
