A Cable Shrug is a simple yet effective exercise that targets the trapezius muscles, which are responsible for elevating and stabilizing the shoulders. It is a great exercise to develop and strengthen the upper trapezius muscles, providing better shoulder stability and improved posture. As with any exercise, it's important to use proper form, control the movement, and avoid using momentum. Adjust the weight as needed to ensure you can complete the exercise smoothly and safely. Incorporate the Cable Shrug into your shoulder or upper body workout routine to target the trapezius effectively.
First, place both cable pulleys as low as you can, then grab the handles in each hand with your arms and press them overhead with you positioned in the middle of the pulleys.
This is the starting position.
From here, elevate your shoulders up to your ears whilst keeping your arms above your head. After this, slowly return the arms to the starting position. This is one repetition, now repeat this for the desired amount.
If you have limited gripping ability try using the Active Hands Gripping aids or D-Ring Aids clipped straight into the carabiner to make this exercise as safe as possible.
