Dumbbell Incline Bench Reverse Press

Overview

The dumbbell incline bench reverse press is a variation of the reverse grip bench press that is performed on an inclined bench. This exercise targets the triceps and shoulder muscles while engaging the upper chest to a lesser extent. The incline bench adds an additional challenge by working against gravity and emphasizing the upper portion of the chest and shoulders.

Description

Let's get started by setting up an incline bench press. Then lie on the bench with your feet firmly on the floor. Grab your dumbbells and have them in line with your shoulders and your elbows tucked in with an underhand grip.

This is the starting position.

From here, press the dumbbells away from your chest. Once fully extended start to lower the weights carefully back down to the starting position. This is one repetition, now repeat for the desired amount.

If you have limited gripping ability try using the Active Hands Gripping Aids to make this exercise as safe as possible.

Benefits

  • Triceps and Shoulder Focus: The exercise primarily targets the triceps and shoulder muscles, helping to build strength and size in these areas.
  • Upper Chest Engagement: The incline bench position also engages the upper chest to a lesser extent, providing a more comprehensive upper body workout.
  • Variation for Muscle Balance: Incorporating the incline bench reverse press can help balance out the development of the upper body muscles, contributing to a more proportionate physique and reducing the risk of muscle imbalances.
